    Day 5 of WriMo
Ach! I've been forgetting to update this. I'm so busy that I just don't have time to keep up a journal. I'll probably be limitted to posting every few days instead of every day, like most people.

    Harvest

So, I changed the name of my WriMo to Harvest. Actually, I changed the entire plot. I decided that, while I love the idea of Generation Ship, it just doesn't make me sit up and "wow" about writing it. Instead, I'm working on a novel about a girl (Amarian) in a society where intellectual "averageness" is practically suicide. Those who don't acchieve academic success are drafted into a hopeless war which is more like a slaughter than actual fighting, as fights generally have two sides.
Oh, and her dad (Arolian) cheats on her mom (Moryn), who then becomes homocidal. It hasn't happened yet, but it will.

So far, I've introduced Amarian, showed an average day in her school, introduced her family and her only friend, showed a peek of her father cheating and made her nap 3 different times x_x What is it with my characters and sleeping?

Also, I have a feeling that waffle/honeycomb shapes are going to have some sort of signifigance in this book. It's been mentioned too often for me to disregard, though I have no idea where I'm going with it.

    Other Writing Stuff

I made it to the next tier of Governor's School competition today. I think most of us progressed, but I'm not sure. I'm getting Mrs. Stallings and Mrs. Mach to write recommendations for me, because they loff me <3

Was stupid enough to sign up to read poetry at the Talent Show. Ugh. No one at school understands any of the stuff that I write - why bother to stutter on stage, just so they can stare at me in blank confusion?

Argh! Curse you, Sinderella! I'm actually tempted to try this NaNoWriMoYe thing. I know I'm doing NaNoWriMo and NaNoPubYe, but do I really have time to write a novel every month? My brain says that I don't, but my impulsive side is nodding pleasantly. I'll probably end up doing it. Sin, you anger me x__x

    Generation Colony

Saw a post about writing a novel in a weekend. As I didn't see it until 4pm Sunday, and was therefore two days behind everyone else, it was perfectly natural for me to attempt it. After all, if I was certain I would lose, what was the harm in trying?
So I was going to start GenShip, but that would be cheating, so I didn't. I doodled a map of the ship, sketched Logan's self-image (he's a computer program, but this is how he shows himself). Got bored and went back to the computer room. Since I was going to fail anyway, I decided that I might as well give it a shot.
3.5k later, I'm in love with my main character, though she reminds me overly much of Gwen mixed with Ender (from Orson Scott Card's Ender's Game). She also has major anger issues and is too intelligent for her age. I may make her a bit older, since a ten year old is never that witty. Eh. I'll probably keep it as-is until I finish and get a beta to look over it.
So, I'm trying to figure out if Ana is a Sue. Half of the time, she has too much dry sarcasm, and half of the time she's too cold about pain. Her father dies, and she has to get an Impulse from a Goddess before she'll cry -.-
Granted, she's never met her father, but that doesn't mean she shouldn't be upset. She also broke a bully's wrist when all she needed to do was push her.
And she wants to name her little brother Filagree. Beautiful word, but not the sorta name you'd give a kid.
Lirya is kinda crazy. She's all messed up about her husband's death, and she doesn't even love him. She just respects him a lot 0.o
Aedryn, the goddess, is reminding me overly-much of Jane. Another OSC character who seems to be slipping into my book. -fends OSC off with a stick-
